THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE: FAUST
FAUST
LIVE BROADCAST FROM “THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE” IN LONDON
3 hours and 45 minutes, with one break
LONG LIVE THE DECADENCE AND ELEGANCE OF THE PARIS OF THE 1870S. IN DAVID GOUNOD´S PRODUCTION OF GOUNOD´S MOST POPULAR OPERA.
There are many versions of `Faust´ who sells its soul to the devil in order to attain eternal youth and power; but Gounod´s opera is still one of the versions that most captivates the audience. Michael Fabiano is the leading actor in this version, together with Diana Damrau as his lover Marguerite and Erwin Schrott in the role of Mephistophelian.
The leading roles, cast with great virtuosos, a great choir, a sensational choreography, ballet and an ecstatic ending make this work the epitome of great theatre: the luxurious dimension of the great French opera is beautifully reflected in this production by David McVicar, set in Paris in the 1870s. The music includes some of the most famous moments of the opera, performed by a group of great international singers and the Royal Opera Chorus.
