The city of Calpe will participate in the activities of the Plataforma Feminista de Alicante planned for 20 September, aimed at condemning and raising awareness of the increase in male assaults and feminicides in July and August.
In the plenary session last Monday, the association "Mujeres por la Igualdad" presented a proposal for all political groups in the city council to join the initiative of the "Plataforma Feminista de Alicante". The proposal was adopted unanimously.
A demonstration is scheduled for Friday 20 September in Plaza Colón at 21:00. The organizers ask everyone who takes part in the demonstration to come with violet light, whether candles, lanterns or even their own mobile phone.
The City Council is joining the initiative and will immerse some of the city's most important places, such as the Town Hall, in violet light.
"We encourage all residents of the city, from the City Council, to join this initiative, which aims to raise awareness of the barbarity we are experiencing with attacks and injuries to women," said the Mayor of Calpe, Ana Sala.
