Next Friday 31 July, the Calp-Teulada section of Line 9 (Benidorm-Dénia) of the TRAM d'Alacant will be reopened after the track renewal works carried out along the line have been completed.

Eleven kilometres of track were renewed between these two towns, representing an investment of some 17 million euros. A monitoring system was set up to control the passage of diesel trains over the viaduct over the Quisi Gorge, which was renovated during this operation, and over the Ferrandet bridge.

Now that this section has been opened, line 9 will provide a rail link between Benidorm and Teulada, while the alternative bus service between Teulada and Dénia will continue.

Now the completion of the approximately 17-kilometre section between Teulada and Dénia is pending, with an investment of around 34 million euros. The Gata de Gorgos-Dénia section is under construction and it is expected that the connection between Teulada and Gata de Gorgos will be launched.

In return, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has started this month of July to redesign the platforms and improve the accessibility of the stations and stops of part of Line 1 (Benidorm-Alicante) and Line 9 (Benidorm-Dénia).

This work will make it possible to condition the current platforms for passenger access to the new double low-floor trains that FGV plans to install in Alicante. This investment concerns 17 stations and stops on Line 9, and a further nine stops on Line 1 on the section between Benidorm and Cala Piteres have been included to improve accessibility.

The work in the signalling, communications, energy and PTA sectors, with a budget of almost 17 million euros, will be carried out in line with the commissioning of the new sections, until the entire Line 9 is completed.
