The Alicante Cancer Association, together with the Calpe-Benissa Animal Protection Society (SPA), has published a calendar with pictures of "superheroes" and "superheroines" from Calp, people who are an example to others. These are people who have overcome an illness or who, after an accident, have accepted a new situation with courage and determination or who have managed to overcome it despite the difficulties and barriers that life has put in their way.
The calendar, whose concept was helped by Calp Town Council, also includes pictures of other "superheroes", dogs and cats from the Animal Welfare Association, who were rescued from the streets and who also have their own story of overcoming.
Each picture also includes a sentence chosen by each of the performers, which sums up their fighting spirit and is also an inspiration for others.
The calendar can be purchased for a donation of 5 euros on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 18.00 to 20.00 hours at the headquarters of the Association for the Fight against Cancer in Alicante (c/ Major 16), as well as at Calzados Daltur (c/ Los Almendros, 4), at the Pepe Davent Gallery (c/ Llibertat, 32), at the Mónica Monje Photo Studio (c/ Joan de Garay, 3) and at the dog grooming shop Mr. Dog (c/ Huelva, 6). The proceeds will benefit both associations so that they can continue their work in solidarity.
