The Museo del Coleccionismo in the Torreó de la Peça de Calp will open its doors again next Friday, after the renovation work carried out in recent months.
The project included the renovation of the building with waterproofing work, changing the pavement, electrical installations and general finishing work, but also the installation of a screen that projects an audiovisual image in different languages about the old town of Calp.
A model of the old town of Calp and its most emblematic places was also built and installed. In this way, the museum also becomes a reference in the interpretation and knowledge of the old town of the municipality.
The cost of rebuilding the museum has reached 40,000 euros, 50% of which was financed by the Calp Town Council and the Turisme Comunitatat Valenciana as part of the investment programme to adapt and improve tourist services and resources.
The new tourist opportunities offered by the area have led the Town Council to consider the Museum of Collections as a tourist information point during the summer months.
On the other hand, the museum is reopening with the exhibition "The Miniatures of Balta", in which the Baltasar González Martínez, who lives in Alicante, shows a collection of miniatures that he himself built.
Baltasar González Martínez, born in Alicante in 1957, showed great skill in drawing, painting and handicrafts since his childhood. For more than thirty-five years he has patiently and meticulously devoted himself to the construction of his miniatures in the few free moments his work allows him.
The artist has also collaborated, always in an altruistic way, with the bonfires of San Juan, by making barrack covers, and with the Moors and Christians of San Blas, by contributing his artistic skills to all the activities in which his collaboration was requested. Since 2005 it has been a member of the Association of Crib Builders of Alicante.
