Maintenance work is due to start tomorrow on the pavements and tree grates on Carrer La Pau, La Pinta, La Santa Maria, Joan de Garay, Pintor Sorolla and Blasco Ibañez. These are pavements that currently have irregularities in the paving due to the passage of time. The works are intended to correct the defects and improve safety for pedestrian traffic.
To this end, the pavement of terrazzo slabs will be lifted by manual means to recover the material. The subgrade will be cleaned and prepared for terrazzo tiling, which will be laid in a pot of mortar and the joints filled with cement mortar.
There are also plans to demolish tree holes that are in poor condition and replace them with drainage paving for pedestrians, and a shrinkage protection system will be installed around the tree trunk.
The work was awarded to the company Vías y Obras Aitana S.L. for 21,540 euros and has a four-week execution period.
This morning, the mayor, accompanied by municipal technicians and managers from the contracted company, visited the area to see "in situ" the changes that will result from the works.
