The Archaeological Museum of the Provincial Government of Alicante has launched a new online education program to teach schoolchildren about the findings of the Pobla de Ifach archaeological site. Through the project, the MARQ Foundation and the Department of Culture of the Provincial Government of Alicante have taken another step in the process of digitalizing the museum's educational resources.

First Vice-President and Councillor for Culture, Julia Parra, announced the agreement with Calp City Council through the Department of Education, led by Rebeca Merchán, to offer the program free of charge in the municipality's schools. "These new resources will allow almost 2,000 primary and secondary school students to learn about their nearest archaeological heritage and its history through the remains studied in the Pobla de Ifach enclave," explained Julia Parra.

Rebeca Merchán has stated that "the aim of this institutional collaboration is for all the schoolchildren of Calp to benefit from this educational offer from March onwards, in close collaboration with the teachers and with the financial support of the Department of Culture of the Provincial Government".

The training program includes a didactic guide in Spanish and Valencian, along with activities that teachers and students can consult and download from the Internet to work on the content in class. These resources can also be downloaded in plain language format, for students with comprehension difficulties. There is also an interactive quiz game with questions to consolidate the knowledge acquired, a video presentation aimed at children with a talk by the curator of the exhibition, MARQ archaeologist José Luis Menéndez, and an audiovisual presentation of the exhibition with animated films with all the information about the graffiti, its discovery, its importance as a historical document and its contribution to documenting the history of Ifach.

Finally, a didactic workshop in streaming format, 'Knight and Graffiti', has also been programmed to reproduce the drawing with the image of the knight that appeared in the Domus Lauria of Calp. It will be used to propose a journey back in time to the medieval origins of the municipality.

The educational initiative about the archaeological site of La Pobla was born from the collaboration between the MARQ Foundation and the Calp Town Council after the opening of the exhibition "El Caballero de Ifach. The decline of the medieval city". Calp City Council is a member of the Board of Trustees of the CV MARQ Foundation and makes an annual contribution of 12,000 euros.

"Knights and Graffiti", as well as the other educational workshops offered by the MARQ Foundation, are accessible to any other school interested in hosting them, by prior arrangement, in person and via streaming format, and payment of a fee of €1 per pupil. The museum's entire educational program is available to teachers who wish to work with it in the classroom via the MARQ website www.marqalicante.com.
