Calp City Council has allocated a total of 632,636.83 euros in aid to different areas of the city to mitigate the economic impact caused by the pandemic. The aid was provided as part of the Plan Resiste, which considers several lines of subsidies.

In this sense, the first line of aid, aimed at people with fewer resources, has amounted to 282,736 euros, from which 1,101 families have benefited. This was to cover basic needs such as food, hygiene and pharmaceutical products.

Aid was also offered to cover the costs of customary housing for pensioners, retirees and the long-term unemployed. 12,204.39 € was awarded and 45 people benefited.

Line 3 of Plan Resiste, aimed at local businesses, has enabled 303 people with businesses in Calp to receive assistance to cope with the economic losses caused by the health crisis. A total of 228,500 euros was given through this line. Also approved as a complementary measure in favour of this sector was an aid for the municipal waste collection tax of 48,027 euros, which will be distributed among the 193 applications accepted.

In addition, a special line (line 5) was created to support women entrepreneurs with less than three years of activity, financed by the Provincial Government of Alicante. In this case, there were 95 applicants and the total amount of aid was 52,869.44 euros. 52,869.44. There will also be an aid for nightclubs through line 6. A total of 7,500 euros will be distributed among five owners of establishments of this type.

These direct aids are in addition to others such as the deferral of tax payments during the most severe months of the pandemic, the distribution and deferral of property tax without interest on arrears for vulnerable persons, the suspension of the tax on street reservations for taxis and stops at hotels, hostels and other accommodation establishments in 2021, and the tax on tables and chairs in 2019 and 2020. All this will be in addition to the 5% reduction in the IBI decided at the beginning of the legislature

New measures for 2021

Calp City Council is planning new measures for 2021 to support the commercial, tourism and hotel sectors to further boost the economy. It will do this through Plan Impulsa, which will give continuity to Plan Resiste. A line item of 400,000 euros will be set aside for this in the municipal budget. These are the first aid lines planned for this year, and others may be added depending on how the pandemic develops.

Aid will be given for the reception of rubbish and for particularly vulnerable sectors such as the taxi industry. Authority has also been requested from the Generalitat Valenciana to execute an employment plan in the city.
