Although the Equality Council does intensive training and awareness-raising work throughout the year, it is in early March, with the celebration of International Women's Day, when the council intensifies its efforts with a specific programme.

This year, under the motto "Mujeres inVisibles" ("Invisible Women"), the programme will begin next Tuesday, 2 March, with the screening of documentaries entitled "Historia Crítica del feminismo español" (The Critical History of the Spanish Women's Movement), organised by the Asociación de Mujeres por la Igualdad de Calp and distributed through this institution's social networks.

From Friday 5 March, the Casa de Cultura will host an exhibition of women artists from Calp, with the participation of 9 painters: Lola Llinares, Natalie Moss, Mari Ortolá, Diny Van Gerwen, Lara Miralles, Susana García Ungo, Patricia Ropohl, Judit Verheij and Erin Burke. The exhibition opens at 6 pm. As places are limited, interested parties must register in advance at igualdad@ajcalp.es.

On the same day, 5 March, the lecture "Visibilitzant les dones artistes" (Visibility of Women Artists) by Irene Ballester Buigues, feminist and doctor of art history, member of the Consell Valencià de Cultura, will take place at 7 pm in the Saló Blau. The talk can be followed on the council's Facebook page.

And on 8 March, International Women's Day, given the impossibility of gathering for the reading of the Manifesto, as happens every year, it is planned that the mayor, Ana Sala, will read the Manifesto via the city's Facebook.

On the 8th, organised by the Asociación de Mujeres por la Igualdad, an online debate entitled "Reivindicando nuestra historia" will take place at 19:30, coordinated by Patricia Greene, PhD in Philology from the University of Berkeley. To participate, you must register at clfcalp2021@gmail.com.

From 12 to 14 March, a participatory mural entitled "Dones Referents" will take place in Esplai Park. In view of the limited capacity and to avoid social contacts, those interested must register in advance at igualdad@ajcalp.es.

And on 26 March, the colloquium "Women in Music" will take place in the Saló Blau of the Casa de Cultura at 6 pm, with the participation of Anabel García from the Mailers group and Aitana Ferrer, moderated by journalist Ernest Parra. The debate is organised by the IES Ifach of Calp together with the Councils of Education and Equality. This event can be followed on the city council's Facebook page.
