The City Council for Culture will modify the format of the 2021 edition of Art al Carrer to open it up to the participation of local associations and entities with a competition. It aims to promote local participation in an artistic activity to decorate the emblematic spaces of the old town for the enjoyment of citizens and visitors.

All associations and corporations registered in Calp can participate, and each of them will be assigned a street or space to decorate by drawing lots. The necessary material for the elaboration of the artistic design will be provided by each association. In order for all participants to compete on a level playing field, the areas designated for artistic display will have a similar morphology, but adapted to the nature of the streets. All the exhibition points for the artistic creations will be located in the historic centre of Calp.

After the drawing of the spaces, about 20 streets in the old town, each association will present a design of the project. The theme of the competition is "Colours" and the choice of materials is free, as long as they can be removed at the end of the exhibition and do not cause damage to facades, balconies or other elements and do not create disturbing noise for the neighbourhood.

The work of putting together the artistic creations will be carried out during a period of 10 days from 18 June 2021, in coordination with the City Council for Culture, and from 1 July the jury will have three days to view the creations and make their decision. There will be cash prizes for the best participating projects.

The prizes will be awarded according to the artistic value of the work, their originality, the technique used, the ability of the association to create an artistic creation, the use of recycled materials, showing a commitment to the environment, adaptability to the space allocated, weather resistance, the use of materials that do not cause noise pollution to the neighbourhood.

The City Council for Culture is in the process of finalising the approval of the rules of the competition and will soon publish the deadlines and the way to submit applications so that associations can prepare their projects.
