Calp City Council is celebrating "Tree Day" with the planting of 120 specimens in the Botanical Gardens. This is an initiative of the Rotary Club of Calpe Ifach, joined by Calp City Council through the Education, Environment and Gardens Departments.

The first of the two planned plantings took place this morning, in collaboration with the I.E.S. Ifach Horticulture Training Cycle, which has been transforming the Calp Botanical Garden into a natural space to enjoy outdoors since the course began.

The plan is to plant 11 different tree species, all autochthonous, such as carob, hackberry, holm oak, olive and Spanish cedar, one of the most representative trees of the Mediterranean region, also known as red juniper.

The species were donated by the regional Department of Agriculture and will have identification plaques with a QR code that provides information about each of them. The plaques are donated by the Rotary Club of Calpe Ifach, which also pays for the equipment for the I.E.S. Ifach Garden Education.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Calp Ana Sala along with other members of the town council, the President of the Rotary Club of Calpe Ifach Miguel de Lamo, the Director of IES Ifach Piedad Isabel Garrido and the Member of the Valencian Parliament Fernando Llopis.

This initiative aims to promote the Calp Botanical Garden as a recreational area for the city. The second day of planting these specimens is scheduled for Sunday 21 March.
