The Ministry of Territorial Policy has awarded Calpe Town Council a grant of €189,883.88 from the Next Generation EU funds to finance part of the project to implement a new Data Processing Centre (DPC) with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) capacity and secure remote access to the workstation.

This new Data Processing Centre will improve fault tolerance, as well as incorporating workstation virtualisation functionalities and a secure access environment when teleworking.

Improved fault tolerance will reduce the downtime of services. The system will allow servers, storage, connections or network electronics to go down without shutting down the service.

This new system will create a virtual desktop on a central server, which remote users can access from any computer via the Internet. This allows for greater security - by incorporating a second authentication factor - when accessing remotely, and will equalise local and teleworking access. This will make it possible to continue to use more than 250 computers that would otherwise have to be replaced because they do not meet the requirements of the new operating systems or because they would be unable to run the City Council's management applications. It will also allow access from multiple operating systems, facilitating teleworking and providing access from any location.

This initiative has a total cost of 334,44.90 euros.

Integration with the State Citizen's Folder

The Calpe Town Council has also received 95,185.86 euros in Next Generation funds to integrate the Calpe Town Council's e-Government system with the State's General Electronic Access Point (PAGe). This will allow citizens to consult from a single point - the State's citizen folder - the status and documentation of the files they have with the Calpe Town Council or with other public administrations that are integrated in the PAGe.

This grant will cover 100% of the project.

Both grants have been awarded within the call for grants for the digital transformation and modernisation of the administrations of local authorities, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
