Calpe Town Council has requested a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Mobility in order to demand the construction of a legal access to Maryvilla. At present it is not possible to enter from the N-332 to this urbanisation because there is a continuous line, forcing drivers to travel several kilometres to make a dangerous change of direction. In the same way, residents of Maryvilla are not allowed to access the Nacional in the direction of Altea and have to go to the northern roundabout in Calpe in order to reach their destination. In addition to this, there are also the infractions that sometimes occur with the risk to road safety.

At the meeting, the Calpe town council will propose to the Ministry as a possible solution the construction of central lanes at PK 165+800 of the N-332 in the municipality of Calpe that will allow these accesses, for which the road will have to be widened in that section.

The improvement of the accesses is a demand of the residents of this urbanisation, the largest in the municipality of Calpe and one of the most populated. "It is a real nuisance for the citizens who live in this residential area that they have to make a detour of several kilometres either to enter the urbanisation from the road or to go to Altea from Maryvilla, in addition to the danger that this entails," said the councillor for Public Safety, Guillermo Sendra, who is expected to attend the meeting along with the mayoress of Calpe, Ana Sala.

"We want accesses that are appropriate for this densely populated urbanisation and for a municipality like Calpe, safe accesses that put an end to the risk that currently exists," said the mayoress.

Footbridge over the N-332 road

The meeting also aims to address the situation of the project for the footbridge over the N-332, given the lack of news from the Town Hall. In September 2022, the plenary session of Calpe Town Council agreed to ask the Ministry of Transport for the powers and funding for the execution of this project, works considered urgent and much demanded in the municipality.

The construction of the footbridge was awarded in 2020 with a budget of 1,073,537.68 euros but was not executed due to the resignation of the company awarded the contract.
