The Department of Equality headed by Councillor Itziar Doval today presented the programme of events organised to commemorate International Women's Day.
The events to celebrate 8M will begin on 29 February with the monologue "This is not sex" by Marina Marroquí in the Auditorium of the Casa de Cultura, admission is free until full capacity is reached.
From Wednesday 6 March the streets of the Old Town will host the exhibition "Take a selfie for Women's Day", a series of text balloons installed on the façades of various municipal buildings with inspirational gender phrases. Participants are invited to take a selfie with the phrase they identify with, making the thought their own and sharing it.
On 7 March the Auditorium will host a performance of "Nora. A Doll's House" by Henrik Ibsen, considered by many to be the first truly feminist play.
On 8 March at 12 noon in the Plaza Miguel Roselló, the Mayoress will read the Institutional Declaration of International Women's Day. On Saturday 9th March the Association of Friends of the Arts is organising a talk-workshop "Pintura entre dones" in the Fine Arts room of the Casa de Cultura.
The IES Ifach will also join in the commemoration of 8M with theatre performances aimed at pupils of the centre, the company EseOesE Teatro will perform "Crash pum zas zas ñam guau" aimed at teenage audiences.
Finally, the Association of Women for Equality of Calp organizes a Women's Meeting of all the associations of the municipality, on Saturday 16th March at 9:30 am at the University Headquarters Casa Nova.
In addition, the public library Joanot Martorell has organized an initiative called "Calpinas with history" consisting of collecting photographs of women from Calpe who are part of the history of the municipality to organize an exhibition from 4 to 9 March.
