Calp Town Council has decided to carry out the necessary repairs to the pumping system of the footbaths at La Fossa beach. This has been made known through a letter signed by the mayoress Ana Sala, which has been sent to Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, the competent body in this matter.
The municipality of Calpe has taken this decision before the celebration of Easter, a period in which many tourists visit the beaches of Calpe and after having asked Turisme Comunitat Valenciana to repair them and knowing that this regional body is currently tendering the maintenance service of the pumping systems of all the beaches of the Comunitat Valenciana. In addition, Turisme Comunitat Valenciana communicated that there were no spare parts available to carry out these repairs in view of the Calpino town council's offer to collect these parts and carry out the relevant repairs with municipal staff.
The letter recalls the repeated problems that the Arenal-Bol and Fossa beaches, the main beaches of the municipality, have been experiencing in recent seasons with the seawater supply system to the footbaths.
These incidents have led to numerous complaints from users, either due to a lack of water pressure in the footbaths or to the fact that they do not work. The letter also states that this service is one of the worst rated by beach users during the last three seasons (2021, 2022 and 2023), according to the satisfaction survey carried out each year within the framework of SICTED, "which is detrimental to the image of Calp as a municipality of recognised tourist prestige. These problems have been notified on numerous occasions to Turisme de la Generalitat Valenciana, as the competent body in the provision and maintenance of this service, so it is already aware of these incidents".
Likewise, in the letter, the Mayoress reiterates the interest of the Town Hall in taking over the operation of the water collection, pumping and distribution system for footbaths on the Arenal-Bol and Fossa beaches, through the legal figure to be determined.
