For the second year running, Calpe Town Council has attended Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España, the world's most important gastronomic congress, which is being held from today until 29th January at IFEMA.
The Town Council has attended together with the Fishermen's Guild and the Enigma Restaurant to promote Calpe Fish and especially the ‘Calpe´s White Shrimp´ brand. The chef of the Enigma Restaurant gave a culinary demonstration this morning in which she prepared a dish featuring white prawns and aromatic herbs from the Marina Alta. The dish, called ‘A walk around Calpe’, consists of prawn gnocchi and wild asparagus tips with sage sprouts, rosemary flowers and citrus foam.
The white prawns were provided by the Fishermen's Association of Calpe, whose Senior Patron, Paco Catalá, was present at the culinary demonstration. Catalá emphasised once again the value and richness of the product that is sold by the Calpe Fishermen's Association.
An exhibition and commercial promotion table for the ‘Peix de Calpe’ and ‘Gamba Blanca de Calpe’ brands was also set up. The councillor for Economic Promotion, Paqui Solivelles, and the councillor Francisco Fernández de Ybarra were present at the event.
Solivelles pointed out that ‘the “Gamba Blanca de Calpe” brand is in addition to the already recognised “Peix de Calpe” brand launched by the Town Council, CREAMA and the Fishermen's Association some years ago to promote fish from the Calpe fish market. The brand emphasises the excellence of this gastronomic product as well as its great variety and versatility, which makes it an ideal delicacy for both haute cuisine and the kitchen of any home.
