Calpe Town Council has signed an agreement with the Directorate General of Police to install a Documentatis Update Point (DUP) on the ground floor of the Town Hall, a device that allows the renewal of electronic certificates and the changing of access codes to electronic certificates.
Until now, in order to renew the digital certificate, it was necessary to go to the police station in Dénia or Benidorm. Although the national identity card is renewed every five or ten years depending on age, the digital certificate associated with the national identity card expires every three years, which means travelling to renew it.
The PAD consists of a terminal equipped with a touch screen and keyboard to renew the DNI keys quickly, without having to travel. At this Documentation Update point, users will be able to renew DNI certificates and modify access data to electronic certificates.
For the renewal of electronic certificates, the physical presence of the document holder is required, and their identity must be verified by reading their electronic ID card and biometric templates (fingerprints), captured during the ID card issuance process, by which they can independently trigger the procedure for renewing their electronic certificates, or change their access password.
They can also be used by people with reduced mobility, as their height can be adjusted. Their use is completely free of charge and does not require an appointment, allowing access through the electronic ID card (physical card) and a fingerprint reader.
