From 1 July, the ordinance on acoustic conditions comes back into force. It refers to work involving the use of heavy or construction machinery that may generate noise and establishes that work that may produce noise is limited to certain time slots.

The noise ordinance prohibits all types of construction work in residential areas in August and establishes time limits in July and September in order to reconcile construction activity with the right to rest.

Likewise, urbanisation, construction, building or any other type of work that may produce noise, whether public or private, must be carried out between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Urgent work or work in the public interest, carried out for reasons of necessity or danger, shall be exempt from the prohibition.

On urban land where residential use is permitted, all types of urban development, construction or building work will be prohibited between 1 and 31 August. Small jobs that do not cause noise or disturbance to neighbours are exempt from this prohibition.

The municipal ordinance distinguishes between the different activities that can potentially cause noise and the solutions to mitigate their effects. With these measures, the City Council aims to reconcile construction and leisure activities with the individual right to rest. The City Council calls on citizens to comply with the ordinance so that the tourist season can pass without noise disturbances, given the eminent tourist nature of the municipality.
