This week, the acoustic conditioning works of the Civic Centre for the Elderly café have been completed, work that, in addition to soundproofing, has improved the acoustic comfort of this space, reducing the reverberation time, which was quite high and caused high noise levels inside.
The works consisted of placing sound-absorbing panels attached to the ceiling and two of the walls. The works were awarded to the company Iberacústica with a budget of €40,329.70 and a six-week execution period. The works have meant the closure of the café for the last two weeks to place the panels and it will reopen next Tuesday.
The Calpe Senior Citizens' Civic Centre was inaugurated in 2003 and offers a full range of services, from information and guidance on matters relating to the elderly to medical care, rehabilitation, passive and active exercise, workshops, dining, café and recreational and cultural activities. Currently, the Civic Centre has more than 4000 users and this year it has held over fifteen workshops on topics as varied as memory training or mindfulness, laughter therapy, theatre, languages, Pilates or crafts.
