The mayoress of Calpe, Ana Sala, and the councilor for Fisheries, Mariola Mulet, together with the Senior Patron of the Brotherhood, Paco Catalá, and the Secretary of the entity, Santos Pastor, held a meeting yesterday with the Director General of Coasts and Ports, Marc García, to learn about the status of the various requests regarding the port that have been made for years. The Cina delegation insists on knowing the intentions of the General Directorate of Ports regarding the port of Calpe, as investments are being made in other ports along the Alicante coast, yet the necessary improvements for the port are not being promoted. The city authorities' demands focus on investments for the remodeling and improvement of the port and on actions regarding buildings that are already operated by the Fishermen’s Brotherhood.

Another topic discussed in the meeting was the control of access and traffic within the port area. Another topic addressed in the meeting is the control of access and traffic to the port area, as well as the possibility of creating a parking zone that could be managed by the Guild itself. The Directorate General of Ports expressed doubts about this due to the need for a public tender.

On the other hand, the Calpe Fishermen's Guild has received the renewal of the concession for operating the Fish Market, although other facilities have been left out of the concession despite having received favorable reports. However, the Guild is seeking a series of European subsidies under the Local Fisheries Action Group (GALP) La Marina, for which the concession certification is required. Therefore, the Directorate General of Fisheries has committed to promptly issue a temporary authorization that guarantees that the Calpe Guild can access European aid.
