Calpe Town Council plans to install a total of 67 solar streetlights in the Canuta, Canuta Alta and Canuta Ifach residential areas. The aim is to improve and, in some cases, provide lighting for certain roads in these areas of Calpe that have poor or non-existent lighting. To this end, it has opted for this type of streetlight with the aim of improving the energy efficiency and sustainability of public lighting.
The streetlights will be installed on four roads in these residential areas, the main and longest ones, such as the TR04, located in Canuta Alta, where 17 streetlights will be installed, the TR17 and TR03 in Canuta, which will be equipped with 15 and 14 lights respectively, and the TR05 in Canuta Ifach, where a total of 21 are planned. Likewise, some of the existing solar streetlights that are defective and located at various points in the area will be dismantled and transferred to the municipal warehouse for inspection and/or recycling.
The council has now put this contract out to tender, which will involve the purchase and installation of 67 solar lights, as well as their maintenance for at least one year. It has a base budget of €149,614.49 and companies interested in submitting bids may do so until 20 March.
This project is part of the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Next Generation EU funds.
Calp Town Council plans to continue investing in lighting for residential areas. In fact, the remaining treasury funds will be used to pay for solar streetlights in Enginent and Ortembach residential areas, as well as LED lighting for other residential areas.
