During these days, the citizens of Calp take part in the various leisure and educational activities in the framework of "El Reto del Reciclaje" (The Recycling Challenge), an initiative which aims to promote their commitment to recycling in order to raise awareness of its importance in protecting the environment and the planet. In this way, the inhabitants of Calp yesterday actively participated in the educational activities proposed in a space reserved at the town's weekly market. In this way, the animation and training team of "El Reto del Reciclaje" interacted with passers-by, suggesting games, gifts, and advice for more and better recycling.
The action is planned according to strict health protection protocols and aims to promote recycling and increase the supply of plastic containers, drink cartons and cans in the yellow containers and paper and cardboard in the blue one. The campaign will also serve to dispel the most common myths about recycling.
The challenge returns to Calp on Saturday 19 September and will be installed at the weekly market. On the same day, at 12 noon in the morning, a training and awareness-raising session will be held in Plaza España for the inhabitants of the municipality.
The action, which is part of the Valencian Community's Packaging Action Plan for 2016-2020, is promoted by the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Change and Ecological Transition and Ecoembes, the non-profit environmental organisation that coordinates packaging recycling in Spain, in collaboration with the MARE Waste Consortium.
The challenge campaign will run until 1 October 2020 and a vehicle identifying the campaign, the "Recycling Van", will visit each of the selected municipalities in the MARE Consortium's administrative territory: El Campello, Alfàs del Pi, Altea, Benissa, La Nucia, Pego, Teulada, La Vila Joiosa and Xàbia.
