A total of 350 leading UK travel agents are visiting Calpe this week to attend the annual meeting of the UK company Jet2com, the country's second largest tour operator. The choice of Calpe as the venue for this meeting will enable participants to experience the various tourist attractions in the community, making it an unprecedented event to promote tourism in Calpe.
Yesterday, as part of the work that forms part of the Congress, the City of Calpe presented its tourism offer to travel agencies, which is particularly focused on family tourism, as well as its range of congresses, sports, culture and gastronomy. All with the aim of informing British travel agencies that there is alternative tourism to Benidorm on the Costa Blanca and therefore not only to include Calpe in its range of services, but also to recommend it to potential customers.
"British tourists traditionally think that the Costa Blanca is synonymous with Benidorm and do not know that there is an alternative offer to that offered by this city, combined with leisure and entertainment; indeed, British who seek a different tourism often choose the Canaries," said Tourism Council Paco Avargues.
The presentation of Calpe's tourist attractions has been carried out for years by a British citizen who lives in the city and has given a first-hand account of his reasons for moving to the city. He also presented all the tourist resources on offer.
On this day, Visit Benidorm also presented his offer. Companies cooperating with Jet2com in Calpe also presented their services.
Afterwards a workshop was held in which the city of Calpe and the private sector of the city were also present which enabled the various British travel agencies to find out more details about the tourist offer.
