Calpe Town Council closes the year 2023 with a balance of the main water works executed, underway and planned, which amount to more than 3.5 million euros, a historic investment figure. This investment will make it possible to implement the best technology on the market in the entire drinking water system, and also in the sewerage network.

In 2023 alone, the municipal company Aguas de Calpe has completed a total of 8 actions in the supply and sewerage system of Calpe with a total investment of 1,012,755 €.

Specifically, six projects have been executed in the supply system, with a total investment of 844,616 €. Most of them focused on the renovation of pipelines. A total of 5,090 metres of new pipes of different diameters (between 400 mm and 63 mm) have been installed, as well as 20 fire hydrants and three pressure reducing valves. In addition, 235 house connections have been renewed. Also in 2023, the project to stabilise and replace the Pioco reservoir transformer station was carried out.

Regarding the sewerage system, Aguas de Calpe has used a very innovative system of rehabilitation of pipes that allows the work to be carried out without the need for trenches, with the consequent savings both financially and in terms of inconvenience during the execution of the work. In this sense, 2 actions have been carried out, with a total investment of 168,140 €. The works to adapt the sewerage network have involved the rehabilitation of 1,017 metres of collectors of different diameters (between 300 mm and 500 mm) through the installation of self-supporting sleeves.

Aguas de Calpe reinforces investment for 2024

The pace of investment in Calpe will be maintained and increased during 2024. Aguas de Calpe is currently executing 7 works in the supply and sewerage system of Calpe, with a planned overall investment of 2,466,337 €. Four projects are being executed in the supply system, with a total investment of 2,128,686 €. Specifically, these are two pipeline renovation projects, two projects to adapt the Olta and Mascarat-Toix reservoirs, and the project to remodel the Barranc Salat desalination plant. Although all the mentioned actions are important, the Barranc Salat desalination plant remodelling project is transcendental as it will guarantee the operation of facilities that have been in operation for more than 23 years.

In the sewerage system, 2 projects are being carried out, with a total investment of 337,651 €. In this sense, the implementation of a remote control system in the sewerage network of Calp - a technology that allows predicting, knowing and operating the facilities remotely - stands out, and it is expected that in 2024 the first phase will be completed. And on the other hand, the adaptation of the WWTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant) of Empedrola II stands out. This project has an estimated investment of 197.354 €.

The mayoress of Calp, Ana Sala, has expressed her satisfaction with the level of execution and the fulfilment of the planned investments. In this sense, she has assured that "maintaining these investment levels allows us to have a highly operational integral water cycle because we have the best technology to efficiently manage such an important resource as water".
