Aguas de Calpe has begun work on the renovation of the drinking water pipeline that connects, in Almendros street, the DN-150 networks of Avda. Ejércitos Españoles (Calpesa reservoir) and Avda. Puerto de Santa María (Corralets reservoir). The cost of the work amounts to 44,532 € and the works will last one month. Aguas de Calpe has informed the neighbouring communities of the start of the works to mitigate any inconvenience.

These works are part of the actions foreseen Calpe´s  Special Drought Plan for the Drought Pre-alert Phase and will significantly improve the response capacity of the supply system of the whole town.

This action improves the resilience of the drinking water distribution network that supplies the town centre by improving the interconnection between the two reservoirs supplying this area; the Corralets reservoir (with a capacity of 10,000 m3) and the Calpesa reservoir (with a capacity of 5,000 m3). Improving the supply system's capacity to react to possible incidents in the distribution networks from both the Orba DWTP and the Barranc Salat desalination plant.

Digital water twin in Calpe

To define this action, Aguas de Calpe has carried out a hydraulic analysis of the behaviour of the drinking water supply network to Calp with the Corralets reservoir and the Barranc Salat desalination plant out of service using its Go-Aigua Digital Twin tool.

Since 2020, the drinking water supply to Calpe has a Digital Twin that simulates in real time, improves the effectiveness of daily operational tasks, the performance of multiple studies and even contributes to the planning of works and the response of the system.

The Digital Twin, which works with a hydraulic model connected in real time with the network sensorisation, allows simulating the hydraulic behaviour in any period and under any operating scenario, whether real or hypothetical. In this way, Calpe is currently one of the few water supplies in the world that has this operating technology, placing it at the forefront of innovation in this field.
