Calp City Council tendered 57 contracts between May and December 2020.

This number reflects a significant increase over previous years and is due to the introduction of e-tendering, which has streamlined processes, but also to a major restructuring of the department. Staff was increased - a technician and an administrative assistant - staff was trained in e-recruiting and e-tendering (tenders) and tasks were redistributed.

Among the contracts completed in the last eight months are the 14 projects funded with the remaining cash from the 2019 budget settlement, including the rehabilitation of Club Social and the implementation of the jetty and coastal regeneration in Cala Manzanera, or the completion of the Casa de la Música building, or the rehabilitation and repair of roads, among others.

Among the 57 contracts put out to tender, there is also the preparation of the Banys de la Reina Special Plan, the purchase of electric vehicles, the sterilisation of the cat colonies in the municipality or the rehabilitation of Fora, Vicente Pastor Mayor, Benissa and Murillo roads as part of the Edusi strategy co-financed with ERDF funds from the European Union.

On the other hand, the Contracts Department plans to approve its first tenders plan in the first quarter of this year, with a forecast of what the city intends to award this year. This makes it easier for companies to compete and provides more transparency in the administration.
