Acciona, the concessionaire of the waste collection and street cleaning service in Calp, has reached an agreement with the CSIF union to call off the indefinite strike that was scheduled to begin on March 25th, coinciding with Easter.

This morning, representatives of the company together with the union delegates and in the presence of the mayoress of Calp, Ana Sala and the councillor of RSU and street cleaning, Juan Manuel del Pino, have signed the minutes of the strike cancellation. To reach this agreement, which recognises the workers' labour demands, the councillor Juan Manuel del Pino has mediated between both parties.

"With our best intentions we have spoken with the company and the workers to reach an agreement. We are starting a new contract and a new time for everyone with a lot of enthusiasm and this strike was not the best way to begin", he said, adding that the City Council "is and will always be willing to listen and help for the good of all".

The agreement includes three demands from the staff: a 7 percent wage increase over two years (3 percent in 2024 and 4 percent in 2025), the establishment of rotating shifts with two consecutive rest days and the modification of workers' categories. By changing their category, workers will see an increase in their wages.

"It is a very important day and I am very satisfied with the agreement that has been reached and which satisfies all parties. What we want is that the workers are happy to work and that the company is happy to work and can provide the best service to the public. I thank Juan Manuel del Pino for his mediation efforts and all the parties involved for their willingness to reach an agreement. It is a success for everyone," said Mayor Ana Sala.
