For the seventh time in a row, Calpe is celebratings the Fira de Nadal (Christmas Market), which takes place from 6 to 8 December in the streets of the old town. This is an event that brings together businesses and associations from the municipality, and this year will see the reintroduction of the craft stalls. In addition, the fair is complemented by the creation of Christmas moods.
The market takes place in the streets of Santísimo Cristo, Major, Llibertat, Justícia, Plaça Beato Sendra and Plaça de la Villa (where the musical performances take place). It will host 34 stands of local companies and associations, 20 stands of artisans from the Asociación de Artesanas de Petrer, as well as other stands that Corona Events, the company contracted for the occasion, will bring to the event.
This event is an opportunity to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere in the old town of Calpe and to work with numerous charity and festive associations in the city. Visitors can also buy typical Christmas sweets, tapas and Calpe food (puchero con pelotas, paella, octopus stew...) at the l stands.
The market is characterised by its Christmas atmosphere and, in this spirit, numerous leisure and entertainment activities are planned, including a visit to Santa Claus and his wife on each day of the fair, as well as well-known animated characters. This is complemented by various musical performances with processions, Christmas concerts or exhibitions of rhythmic gymnastics, Zumba or Capoeira.
There will also be workshops for children, among which the novelty is the pilota valenciana, which will promote the practice of this local sport. The others planned are wooden masks, archery and crib models.
In addition, as part of the programme, the Mass will also include an exhibition of nativity scenes in the Nuestra Señora de las Nieves church and candle offerings to the Blessed Virgin of the Colombian Community in the same church on Saturday 7 September at 8.30 pm.
The Fair opens daily at 11 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. on Sunday 8 December.
