Calpe will launch a public awareness campaign to collect dog excrement over the next two months, and during this time no fines will be levied. This was announced yesterday by the Mayor of Calpe, Ana Sala, at the plenary session where the amendment to the regulation on the coexistence of citizens in public spaces was finally approved. It provides for a fine of up to 650 euros for owners who do not collect the excrement of their pets on the tracks or who do not clean the urine of their animals with water.
The aim is to ensure the health of the streets and public spaces and to prevent the deterioration of street furniture. "The aim of this regulation is not to collect fines, but to raise awareness among citizens so that together we can make Calpe a clean city," said the Mayor.
In this context, the City Council will distribute 4,000 bottles free of charge so that citizens can clean the urine of their pets. This will be accompanied by an information campaign to publicise the regulation.
The amendment to this regulation has had the positive votes of the PP, Ciudadanos and Defendamos Calpe, and the abstention of the PSOE and the vote against by Compromís.
Zona Azul - Regulation
On the other hand, the plenary session definitively approved the amendment to the municipal traffic regulations, which regulates hourly limited parking, and incorporated some of the proposals put forward by the Associació d'Empresa i Comerç de Calp (AEMCO). In this way, a weekly card will not be introduced, as originally planned, in order to encourage vehicle rotation, and the maximum number of parking cards for company vehicles and staff of shops in the affected areas of the Azul zone will eventually be four, instead of eight as originally planned, although the dealers had requested that there should be two.
On the other hand, at the proposal of the Public Security and Transportation Council of the City of Calpe, Domingo Sánchez, those persons who carry out their activity in an establishment located in streets that do not have a Zona Azul, but are adjacent to other Zona Azul streets, will be considered as shops and can therefore benefit from these cards. These streets are Portalet, Almendros, Azorín, Navío, Delfín, Huelva, Oscar Esplá, Goleta, Blasco Ibáñez, Benidorm and Plaza Ifach.
Thus, the other innovations of the regulation amendment are maintained, such as the minimum time of 20 minutes, the exemption of vehicles with the "zero emission" eco-label or the creation of a mixed ZONA NARANJA in the old town, which will operate from 1 May to 31 October with a uniform tariff between 6 pm and 9 pm. The aim is to facilitate parking during the working day but limit it in the evening.
This regulation will serve as a framework for companies that decide to tender for ZONA AZUL. It is expected that the deadline for the submission of tenders will be opened in the same week.
The PP, Ciudadanos, and PSOE voted for the final approval of the amendment to this regulation. Compromís abstained and Defendamos Calpe voted against.
Full-time dedication
On the other hand, the plenary approved, with the votes of the PP, Ciudadanos and PSOE, the abstention of the Compromís and the votes against of Defendamos Calpe, that two more municipal councillors exercise their office as "dedicación exclusiva". These are the Town Councillor for Tourism and Commerce, Paco Avargues, and the Town Councillor for Citizen Security and Transport, Domingo Sánchez (the latter has had a partial dedication of 80% to date).
