Pending the resolution of allegations and the finalization of the awarding of the contract for the SUW collection and street cleaning service, the Town Hall and the current concessionaire have drawn up a Service Plan to cover the Easter week period.
The service is structured in three time slots, in the morning there are two collection routes from Monday to Saturday with side-loading, together with two support services for the collection of waste left in the vicinity of the side-loading containers. On Sundays there is a collection route in the urbanization area for the points with the highest accumulation of waste.
Regarding the collection of furniture and household goods, a team will be set up for the town centre area and another team for the urbanisation area and two teams for the collection of prunings from Monday to Friday to control the collection of prunings deposited in the different sectors of the urbanisations.
Manual sweeping and daily cleaning will be carried out from Monday to Sunday in all areas of the town centre and promenades, covering 10 sweeping sectors. From Monday to Friday, two hydro-cleaning teams will responsible for cleaning the area around containers, squares and to reinforce the cleaning at the entrances to the beaches.
In addition, there will be two clearing teams for the area of urbanisations from Monday to Friday and a sweeper for the area of the town centre and promenades from Monday to Sunday. Twice a week, side-loading and top-loading containers will be washed.
In the afternoon, the specific collection of cardboard from large door-to-door producers will be carried out from Monday to Saturday and the collection of paper and cardboard from side-loading and top-loading containers. The collection of packaging will also be carried out during this period.
In the afternoons, manual sweeping and mechanical sweeping of housing estates will also be reinforced and new small containers will be installed in areas of ice-cream parlours and food stalls where most waste is generated.
At night, two collection routes are carried out in the town centre area from Monday to Sunday together with a support team to collect waste in the vicinity of the containers. In the old town area, the underground containers have been closed and waste deposit points have been set up using large-capacity rear-loading containers. In addition, small containers have been distributed to restaurants in the area, which are taken out by users after 22:00 hours. These containers are collected by a team from Monday to Sunday.
On Saturdays there is a specific market cleaning team made up of 9 workers who clean the market area once it has finished. In the urbanisation area there will continue to be two clearing teams and in the promenade areas the service will be reinforced with a team to clean up in the afternoons.
In the promenade areas, new small containers will be installed in areas with small businesses, ice cream parlours and food stalls, etc.
The mayoress, Ana Sala, has pointed out that "with the new contract we aspire to be the cleanest municipality in Spain and while it is finally resolved we are putting all the necessary means so that Calpe is in the best conditions of cleanliness".
