Calpe Town Council will install photovoltaic panels for self-consumption at the municipal swimming pool. The project has been drawn up through the Provincial Council's Optimiza Energy Saving Plan and the tender for the works amounts to €57,438.
The project consists of installing a 50 kW hybrid photovoltaic system on the roof of the municipal swimming pool for self-consumption with the possibility of storing energy. A generator consisting of 104 modules or panels with intelligent monitoring will be installed.
The solar panels will cover the own demand with renewable energy, reduce the cost of the electricity bill and at the same time reduce carbon emissions. This installation will be in addition to the biomass boiler at the municipal swimming pool and the recently installed LED luminaires which aim to achieve maximum energy efficiency in this sports facility.
The Councillor for Sports, Ximo Perles, pointed out that "the priority is not to create a new pool but to optimise the current one, improving its facilities and offering new complementary sports services in the pool area".
