Calpe is preparing to enjoy its Oktoberfest from Wednesday 2 October. It is a festival characteristic of the town that attracts thousands of visitors to enjoy Bavarian beer, gastronomic specialities and real German fun.
The festival is organized by Club Creative Calp for the 32nd time this year. This year, no Paulaner will be served, but three other beers that are very popular in Bavaria: Erdinger Stiftungsbräu, Erdinger Trigo and "Korbinian" Dunkelbier from Weihenstephan, the world's oldest brewery. The aim is to introduce visitors to new Bavarian beers, as Paulaner is already well known among Spanish consumers.
The festival will include several events. On 7 October, the evening will be dedicated to international traditional costumes, and 10 October will be Happy Beer Day, when the light foundation brew will be offered at a reduced price. On 13 October, all plates will also be offered at a reduced price as long as stocks last.
One of the major advantages of the Calpe Oktoberfest, and what makes it unique in Spain, is its music: genuine German songs and live music by the Steinsberger, a 10-member orchestra that has been very popular in Germany and has been travelling to Calpe for this event for more than 20 years. This year the group will perform every day (except 10th and 13th October). On these days DJ One and other musicians will perform. Visitors can also choose from a wide range of sausages, pork knuckles and the popular pretzels, as well as other German culinary delights.
The Oktoberfest is celebrated until 13 October in the Parc de la Creativitat (behind the Club de Tenis).
The festival opens daily at 18:00, except on the 2nd (from 19:00, 6th (from 11:00 to 15:00) and 13th October (from 10:00 to 18:00).
