Ana Sala, Mayor of Calpe, and Juan Manuel del Pino, City Councillor for Urban Planning, yesterday announced the last urban development measure to be proposed to the plenary next Friday: the provisional suspension of the building permit for the Morello, PP 1, Ifach (PP2), La Fossa (PP3) and Saladar (PP4) subdivisions.
This temporary suspension is the reaction "to the strong urban pressure and stops the permits to reconsider the problems without restricting the rights," said Ana Sala. The measure concerns plots of more than 2,500 square meters in subplans 1, 2 and 3 and more than 3,500 square meters in PP4.
Juan Manuel del Pino, City Councillor for Town Planning, said that "before Christmas we hope to have a draft prepared by the Town Council for Planning; from then on the granting of building permits will be reopened but will have to adapt to the new conditions. Del Pino stressed that "it is not the intention to harm anyone; we want to start a period of calm and examine whether the building can be done with parameters other than height. The idea is that no more than 15 floors should be built".
For her part, the Mayor stressed that it is not about stopping the Master Plan, but about specific changes, not about changing or revising the Master Plan. The City Planning Council has already started its work.
The suspension of the building permits will be discussed in the next plenary session on Friday. The City Planning Council said: "It would be good if the entire City Council agreed; this would strengthen us legally and morally".
