Today is the opening of the deadline to apply for the IBI property tax subsidies, aimed at retired people, pensioners under 65 and the long-term unemployed. The purpose of this aid is to subsidise the IBI of the habitual residence for the year prior to the call for applications, so as not to aggravate the living conditions of people in a disadvantaged economic situation.

The aid consists of a rebate of up to 400 euros and up to 85% of the amount of the IBI. The amount can be increased by 10% in the case of people with disabilities or members of the family unit who are disabled and can prove a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33% or who are victims of gender violence or are part of a single-parent or large family.

In order to be eligible for this aid, people must have paid the IBI of their habitual residence in Calpe, whether it is owned or rented. In addition, they must be over 65 years of age or have reached that age in 2023 or under 65 years of age who are Social Security pensioners during 2023. Also eligible are people who have been long-term unemployed during the past year, i.e. those registered as job seekers in the Labora centres.

To be eligible for these grants, applicants must be registered in the property that generates the IBI payment, the applicant must be the owner of a single property in Calpe and this must be their habitual residence, they must not benefit from IBI bonuses for large families and they must be up to date with their obligations to the Tax Agency and Social Security.

The grants can be applied for until 28 June at the Citizen's Advice Bureau, and can also be applied for through the electronic office.
