Calpe Town Council has begun reconstruction and refurbishment work on the section of masonry wall located between points M-61 and M-63 on the Fossa Promenade, which was damaged by the storm on 14 August 2024.

The aim of this work is to restore the affected wall and ensure the safety of pedestrians and users of the promenade in one of the busiest areas of the coast. The storm caused the partial collapse of the structure and damage to the pavement, making it necessary to intervene to prevent further landslides and ensure the stability of the area.

The works have a budget of €153,211.26 (including VAT) and include the underpinning and reconstruction of the section of wall that collapsed, as well as the demolition and rebuilding of those elements that were in poor condition. The works include actions on retaining walls, pavement foundations and pavement replacement, adapting it to current safety and accessibility standards.

The expected completion time is several weeks from the start of the work. During this period, signage and temporary diversions have been put in place to minimise disruption to pedestrians and businesses in the area.

With this intervention, Calpe Town Council continues to carry out maintenance and improvement works on the seafront, with the aim of preserving the coastal infrastructure in the face of storms and ensuring optimal safety and enjoyment for residents and visitors.
