On the occasion of Europe Day, CalpeTown Hall celebrated a day of coexistence that began with the raising of the EU flag in the Plaza Colón. Afterwards the Mayoress Ana Sala and the BELC and International Promotion councillor Marco Bittner have read a manifesto in the Calalga in which they have reinforced the commitment of the Calpe City Council of with diversity and in which special mention has been made to the humanitarian crises in Gaza and Ukraine. In this sense, they have urged to seek peaceful solutions and to respect international law. "Our duty as a city council is to support those who are suffering and to work tirelessly to build a world where all people can live in dignity and security," said the mayor.

Reference was made to the role of the European Union in local policies, which is materialised through programmes such as Next Generation, which will enable the implementation of the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destinations, financed by the European Union - NextGenerationEU. This initiative will implement the Local Plan for the Prevention of Forest Fires, the incorporation of Calpe to the ETIS system of tourism sustainability to measure and evaluate the actions carried out in order to convert the municipality into a Smart Tourism Destination and technical assistance for the management of the plan, among other projects.

In this day of celebration has also taken place a giant paella that have been able to taste those present, among which were many foreign citizens residing in Calpe and has served as a point of union and cultural exchange between the different nationalities that live in the municipality.
