Calpe Town Council has drawn up a report on the works, investments and services that will be financed throughout 2024 from the surplus cash resulting from the liquidation of the previous year's budget. This is one of the points to be debated in tomorrow's ordinary plenary session.

A total of €8,563,802.35 is earmarked for 35 initiatives of varying amounts to be carried out during the current financial year. Among the actions to be financed with the surplus is the €1,000,000 Employment Plan 2024. The Bono Comercio campaign aimed at encouraging local commerce will also be financed from the surplus, with an investment of €500,000.

Other actions in education include the project and execution of the remodelling of the playground of CEIP Mediterrani and shading for the four schools with an investment of €150,000 and the drafting of the project and execution of the reform of the bathrooms of CEIP Azorín for a value of €70,000. Another €200,000 has been earmarked for the accessibility of the Social Services offices in the Casa de la Música de la Unión Musical.

One of the most important investments is the project and execution of the Tourist Office of the XXI century with an amount of 700.000€. In addition, €150,000 has been earmarked for the extension and refurbishment of the Municipal Brigades facilities on Avenida Rosa de los Vientos.

In terms of urban developments, €500,000 will be invested in a new asphalting plan in the school zone and on Avenida Casa Nova, and €100,000 will be spent on the purchase of solar street lights for urban developments.

The remainder is also earmarked for the purchase of vehicles for Civil Protection, specifically €160,000, and for the drafting and execution of the project for the Ermita dog park for an amount of €80,000.

In the field of culture, the creation for the first time of a line of subsidies for cultural promotion stands out: subsidies to local cultural organisations for their work in cultural promotion. A total of €200,000 has been earmarked for this purpose.

In addition to all these actions, there are others in the areas of cleanliness, environment, culture and security, all these projects must be implemented over the course of 2024.

The mayoress, Ana Sala, pointed out that "the Town Council has closed the 2023 financial year with a cash surplus of 17 million euros, of which 12 million euros are earmarked for various projects and actions. This first report covers the Employment Plan, whose bases are ready and will be published shortly, or the Trade Voucher. We remain committed to improving public roads with a new asphalting plan for works such as the accessibility of the Social Services facilities. We continue to invest in necessary improvements for everyone, some projects with small investments, others with large investments, but all of them necessary".
