Starting next Friday, July 17, the old town of Calp will once again become a large open-air museum thanks to the "Art al carrer" installation organized by the Ministry of Culture. It consists of various sculptural interventions in the historic centre with the theme "Mother Earth", which can be visited throughout the summer.

This edition of Art al Carrer involves the professional centre Maite Boronat, the Centre Cívic dels Majors, the Association of Crib Builders, the Casa de Andalucía, the EPA students of coil and macramé technique, the Foto Club Ifach, Lunart (Jordi Úrbez and Raquel Serrano), various local artists and even children from Calp.

Thus, local artists will exhibit their paintings on the balconies of Purisima and San Jose streets, each of them having prepared a work on the theme of the exhibition using their personal technique. In Plaza de la Villa and Placeta del Mestre Llopis, members of the Ifach Photo Club will exhibit large photographs on triangular structures. The selected photographs are works of great artistic quality, taken by the members of the Landscape and Nature Club.

The users of the Centre Cívic dels Majors will exhibit their works and crafts in calle Pescadores, and the users of the Maite Boronat Occupational Centre will exhibit their works in Beato Sendra square.

EPA students from the Spool and Macramé workshops will be responsible for the decoration of the Plaza de España, which they made during the course. The Association of Crib Builders and the House of Andalusia will decorate Calle García Ortiz with the work of their staff.

The artistic decoration of Pescadores Street was made by Lunart (Jordi Úrbez and Raquel Serrano), who prepared a curious trompe-l'oeil for this emblematic corner of the old town.

In the middle of curfew, the Cultural Council also asked for the participation of the children of Calp, so that they could make handicrafts with recycled materials and take part in this exhibition. The result of this participation can be seen in the Museo Casa de la Senyoreta.

At the same time as this project is launched, the old town will be given special lighting and the gardens in the area will be redesigned to give the streets the same type of vegetation.
