In view of the discovery of several cases of Covid-19 in schools in Calp, the Calp Municipal Education Council has, among other measures, initiated the thorough disinfection of the Gabriel Miró school. This school currently has a total of 7 classes in lockdown, which over the past weekend has led to the integrated disinfection of the internal and external surfaces using an innovative electrostatic spraying method, including critical points or areas that are not easily accessible using traditional methods. It is planned to apply this system to other schools in the community.
Each of Calp's schools currently has a dedicated cleaning staff since the beginning of the school year, who carry out surface cleaning and disinfection tasks during the school day. Once this is completed, the usual cleaning of the classrooms is carried out, with no minors present.
During the summer of 2020 and before the start of the school year, the Town Council carried out various actions, such as opening new entrances to the schools to avoid overcrowding as much as possible, or reorganising traffic in some places. We also installed paper roll holders in all classrooms and the continuous supply of soap and hydroalcoholic gel.
Rebeca Merchan, the town councillor in charge of education, pointed out that "the schools in Calp are facing a truly complex situation and are strictly following all the protocols established by the regional government since they opened. In view of the fact that the Regional Ministry does not currently plan to close any schools, we will increase the number of disinfections in all schools and we call on the families to reduce social contacts as much as possible in the coming days".
