Calp City Council will introduce a new line of economic assistance to local nightlife businesses under the Plan Resiste at the next plenary session. Following the Ministry of Health's decree to close the nightclubs last 18 August as a preventive measure in the fight against the coronavirus, the companies in this sector were forced to close during the summer season.
The Mayor of Calp, Ana Sala, said that "the government team believes that administrations should take a step forward and provide assistance to alleviate the economic crisis, investigate cases individually and make a commitment at regional, provincial and central level. The will of the City Council is that the aid should be direct and fast acting so that no company in the sector is forced to give up.
The aim of the aid is to work together to restore, maintain and revitalise economic activity in Calp and to try to alleviate the economic impact of the health emergency caused by COVID-19. This aid to the industry is a new line of the Plan Resiste, which already provides for aid to companies which had to close down during the emergency, for waste tax and for women entrepreneurs.
Holders of one of the following activity licences may apply for this grant: discos, dance clubs, karaoke or cocktail bars with or without live music performances in Calp on 18 August 2020, which had ceased their activities under the Ministry's decree of 17 August.
The amount of the subsidy varies between 1,000 and 2,000 euros, depending on the people employed in the establishment, and thus amounts to 1,000 euros if no people are employed, 1,500 euros if 1 to 3 people are employed, 1,800 euros if the activity employs between 4 and 8 people, and 2,000 euros if more than 8 people are employed.
Once the aid has been definitively approved, applications will be submitted to the register of Calp Town Hall on a standard form which will be available on the municipality's website within 15 working days of publication in the BOP scoreboard.
