Calpe City Council has launched this week a new Citizen Information Service with WhatsApp and Telegram.

The aim of this initiative is to provide citizens with information of interest quickly and easily. These two instant messaging channels will provide information on assistance deadlines, implementation of new initiatives, municipalities, schedules, etc.

Both channels be helpful in emergency situations, as they allow citizens to be warned of road closures, heavy rainfall or school closures, to name but a few examples of recent disasters that have occurred in the region.

To receive notifications, simply search for and subscribe to the Ayuntamiento de Calpe Channel. In the case of WhatsApp, it is necessary to send a WhatsApp to +34 663 23 33 46 with your first and last name and the word "alta".

These channels are used to disseminate information and therefore no requests are processed, as the city has other channels such as the citizen mailbox, the 900 line, the OAC and the contact forms on the website.

The Mayor of Calpe, Ana Sala, explained that "with these two channels we want to inform all citizens in a very simple and direct way everything we do in the different departments of the City Council.

"Telegram and WhatsApp are coming to reinforce the other channels already used by the Calpe City Council, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as the weekly digital newsletter sent to all interested citizens," Sala added.
