Ecovidrio, the non-profit organisation responsible for the recycling of glass containers in Spain, has awarded the municipality of Calpe for its good results in the selective collection of glass containers during the summer months.
This year, 2019, 431,170 kilograms of glass were collected, 3% more than last year, demonstrating citizens' commitment to sustainability and recycling.
The first Deputy Mayor of Calpe, Juan Manuel del Pino, was responsible for receiving the award at a ceremony in Valencia attended by the Regional Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Disasters and Ecological Transition of the Generalitat Valenciana, Mireià Mollà.
This initiative, known as "Green Flags", is supported by Ecovidrio and aims to reward the efforts of the municipalities in the selective collection of glass containers with outstanding recognition for the hospitality sector.
