Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) will be offering a bus service between Olla de Altea and Calp stations between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on 8 and 9 February, as the planned work on the Mascarat bridge means that this section of Line 9 (Benidorm-Dénia) of the TRAM d'Alacant will have to be closed to rail traffic.
As a result of this change, the bus service currently operating between Calp and Dénia will be extended to Olla de Altea between 6.00 and 14.00 on these two days due to the modernisation work on line 9. The temporary stop shall be located in the same station.
During these two days, FGV plans to install monitoring equipment for the Mascarat Bridge, based on data and an alarm management and control software, which will provide a control system for the behaviour of the structure of this bridge, which is more than one hundred years old.
The Mascarat viaduct was renovated a few years ago by the public company as part of the track renewal of the Altea-Calp section.
This control system will also be installed on other bridges in the network that have already been rehabilitated, such as the bridge over the Algar River and the Santa Ana bridge over the Quisi Gorge.
These actions are part of the measures being implemented by the Generalitat via FGV throughout the TRAM d'Alacant network in order to improve quality and homogenise service conditions between Alicante and Denia.
