Pablo Perales Muñoz, 18 years old, has become the new mayor of Calpe for 24 hours. The hitherto mayoress Ana Sala has handed over the baton to him on the balcony of the Town Hall in the presence of the members of the festival committee who have acclaimed their new municipal representative.
This act characterises the Dia del Fadrí, the day on which the festeros take charge of the municipality. In his speech, Pablo Perales invited everyone to visit the Plaza Mayor to get to know the fiestas of Calpe, decided to extend the fiestas by three days, abolished the time limit in the square and informed the 18-year-old of the obligation to wear diving goggles at the foam party.
Afterwards, the festeros, led by Pablo Perales, met in the Town Hall's plenary hall.
