Calpe has received this morning the most awaited news for the whole educational community: the Regional Ministry of Education has authorised Calpe Town Council to put out to tender the new secondary school and the Gargasindi Special Education School. These are two of the most demanded projects in the municipality that were paralysed while waiting for the Generalitat to authorise the modification of the delegation of competences due to the increase in the budget of both projects, included in the Pla Edificant.
The mayoress, Ana Sala, announced this news accompanied by a large part of the government team. "Today is a day of celebration, I am very happy," she said. "We are very happy, because we have finally been heard, we have been listened to, we are going to be able to put these important projects out to tender ourselves, which is what the Pla Edificant, to which we adhered, was contemplating", she stressed. And he recalled that both projects were approved by the full council a few months ago, in November for the CEE Gargasindi and in December for the second school, both with an increase in cost compared to the budget initially planned as a result of the increase in costs in recent years. The Gargasindi has a cost of 7,820,842.82 euros, 1,892,557.32 euros more than initially planned, while the budget for the IES is 15,405,531.20 euros, which means an increase of 2,698,080.07 euros.
Now the Conselleria not only authorises the Town Hall to go ahead with the processing of both projects but will also pay for this increase in costs.
"We have been fighting for a long time for these priority centres, we are in an educational emergency in Calpe. It's not just these months, I'm talking about years," he continued. "And in the same way that we have been very vindictive with these projects, today we want to say thank you". And he made special reference to the General Director of Educational Infrastructures, Rafael Valcárcel, and the rest of the technicians and "to all those who have answered the phone every day we have called".
The City Council will launch tenders for both projects so that they can become a reality this term of office.
