In a normal situation, the celebrations of the "Moros y Cristianos" festivities in honour of the Santíssim Crist de la Suor would begin tomorrow, but the festive groups have agreed to suspend the celebrations for health reasons and to celebrate only the religious acts with the security measures laid down in these cases.
In the absence of a programme of events, the Associació de Moros i Cristians, chaired by Mª Angeles Penella, has decided to celebrate the festival of "Moros y Cristianos" through the social networks. For this reason, in the next few days the summary videos of the marches of the last few years will be broadcast, as well as the video celebrating the association's 40th anniversary.
On the other hand, the religious acts will focus on the sacrifice of candles to the patron saint, which will be celebrated tomorrow, Wednesday 21 October, at 8 pm in the parish of Virgen de las Nieves, as well as the mass for Santíssim Crist de la Suor, which is traditionally celebrated on 22 October at 12 pm. This year the mass is celebrated in the Virgen de las Nieves church and is broadcast via social networks.
The candle sacrifice is transformed into a solidarity offering of food and personal care products. The contributions will go to Cáritas Calpe. There will be a meeting place in the Plaza de España where contributions can be deposited, and candles collected.
