Banys de la Reina

Every Tuesday during July and August, the Calpe City Council has organised tours to the Roman archaeological remains of the "Banys de la Reina". These are free guided tours, led by the archaeologist Alicia Luján, who will explain the history and important details of the find.

The "Banys de la Reina" is one of the most important archaeological sites of their category in Roman Spain. The find dates from the end of the 2nd century AD to the 7th century AD and consisted of a group of luxurious Roman villas whose architectural design and mosaics made of black and white stones and marble from distant places are remarkable. The find is located near the sea; its name refers to basins carved into the rock containing fishes.

The meeting point for these guided tours is the "Molí del Morelló" at 9:30 a.m. Registration is not necessary, but as the tours are limited to groups of maximum 25 - 30 people, punctuality is highly recommended. More information at the Casa de Cultura, phone +965 839 123.
