The Voramar Calalga trail in Calp has been awarded the Blue Trail distinction by the Association of Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC) for the fifth consecutive year. This distinction recognizes the restoration and enhancement of trails and routes throughout Spain that have been transformed into resources for environmental interpretation and the enjoyment of nature.

The Voramar trail runs along cliffs parallel to the sea between the upper part of Calalga cove and Les Bassetes marina, offering spectacular views of the Calp coastline. It is a resource of great scenic, environmental, and tourist value for residents and visitors alike, offering an itinerary that combines interpretation of the natural environment with active enjoyment of the Calp coastline.

To obtain this distinction, criteria such as the layout and type of trails, infrastructure, and signage are assessed each year, as well as aspects related to the environmental characterization of the trails and their enhancement through environmental education activities. In addition, aspects relating to public use and enjoyment, accessibility, user information on natural and cultural heritage, and citizen participation are considered.

The jury, made up of researchers, university professors, and professionals specializing in the environment, health, tourism, accessibility, and physical activity, has particularly highlighted the ongoing efforts of numerous administrations and promoting entities to improve the quality of the award-winning trails, which this year number 194, 45 of them new, bringing the network to over 1,200 kilometers. The Blue Trails are present in 154 municipalities in 24 provinces and 12 autonomous communities and 1 autonomous city. The Valencian Community, with 31 awards, ranks third, after Galicia and Murcia, in terms of the number of Blue Trails.

Integration into the network involves a commitment to continuously improve the route, promoting environmental education activities, heritage interpretation, conservation and volunteer actions, aimed at both visitors and the local population.

The 2026 Blue Trail Flag award ceremony will take place on Friday, March 6, at Cullera Castle.
