The works to repair the access to Calalga Cove, one of the most frequented beaches in the municipality, located very close to the promenade, have been completed. Before the works, access to the beach was via a very deteriorated masonry staircase. In addition, the erosion produced on the rocky slope of the cove by the action of the waves during the storm of January 2020 caused the crown of the cove to be overhanging and even caused certain areas to detach due to their own weight, damaging the upper road. Successive storms aggravated the situation of the slope.

For this reason, and to guarantee the safety of users, in September the Town Council began repair work, which consisted of building a limestone breakwater wall, the foundations of which were filled with concrete.

As for the access staircase, the existing masonry and concrete structure was demolished and replaced with a wooden structure anchored to the natural ground with anchor plates. The work cost €112,700 and was carried out by Vías y Obras Aitana.

The mayoress, Ana Sala, pointed out that "at the end of the year the Town Hall is completing a series of works and projects begun in the previous term of office and at the same time initiating other proposals that will improve our municipality. These are investments in asphalting, in improving the water network, in essential works to enhance the value of our archaeological heritage, projects such as the Vial J, the remodelling of the Garrofers park, the new IES, the Museum of Baños de la Reina, soon the CEE Gargasindi, in the coming months will start key projects for Calpe".
