Calpe has received two grants for social services from the Diputación Provincial. These are a grant of 24,876 € for the SAD and a second grant of 22,716 € for individual emergency situations.
The primary objective of SAD is to improve the quality of life of older people or people with limited personal autonomy and to promote their life in their own home or familiar environment. This is a family care service that responds to situations of personal, psychological and social disadvantage.
The next Muslim and Christians celebration of Calpe already has a herald. The Associació de moros i cristians Santíssim Crist de la Suor has proposed to Juan José Olcina Navarro, President of the Associació de Sant Jordi de Alcoy, to announce the beginning of the celebrations as a person closely associated with these celebrations.
Calpe City Council members and citizens observed this morning a minute's silence outside the doors of the Town Hall to express their rejection of what is probably the last case of gender-based violence in the city.
The Mayor of Calpe, Ana Sala, has expressed her "repulsion and condemnation" for the alleged murder of a woman by her partner, both of Belgian nationality, who had been registered in the municipality only four months earlier.
The OAC - Oficina de Atención al Ciudadano- Citizens´ Office of the Calpe City Council is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The office was founded in June 2009 with five clerks and one manager as the first point of contact for the citizens.
Today, ten years later, 9 clerks and one manager are already working at the OAC. The office has just reached 97% in terms of citizen satisfaction. The office has extended opening hours, even on Saturdays, to facilitate citizens' contact with the city administration.
Triana Matilla Ruiz is a girl from Calpe who just turned 4 years old. After overcoming a severe bone marrow disease, this little girl decided that she wanted to help other sick children on her birthday instead of receiving presents, so she asked her friends to donate money to the AECC - Junta Local de Calpe instead of gifts for her.
Yesterday the deadline to apply for a LVT (IBI) for pensioners and pensioners under 65 and long-term unemployed ended. A total of 126 persons applied for this subsidy. The city council has budgeted 100,000 Euros for this subsidy.
This is the first initiative taken by the Calpe City Council. It involves a grant of 400 Euros and up to 75% of LVT (IBI). The subsidy can be increased by a further 10% for disabled people or family members of disabled people, if they have a disability of 33% or more or are victims of gender-related violence or single parents.
The local police of the city of Calpe starts today with the reinforcement of its services from 6 pm and during the whole night, with the aim of improving the surveillance, the control of street sales, and the noise protection, etc..
The service has already been increased from two to three patrols and will now, by the end of August, be extended by another patrol; this will make it possible to expand the service from 18 hours when it is most needed. Local police have identified an increased need from mid-afternoon, either through noise, riots or street vending.
On Thursday, July 11th, a new edition of "Cinema a la mar" (Cinema on the beach) will begin, organized by the city of Calpe to enjoy cinema on the beach.
The performances start at 22:00 on the La Fosse beach (Tuesdays) and on the Arenal-Bol beach (Thursdays).
